DUNTON, UK, Oct. 15, 2024 – Ford’s all-new, electric E-Tourneo Courier is primed to help customers get the most out of life with bold design, a spacious and versatile interior, and smart connected technologies.
The electric version of Ford’s exciting new compact five-seat multi-activity vehicle offers up to 288 km of range, 1 supported by fast charging capability and convenient solutions to help demystify charging at home or on the go.
The vehicle’s SUV-inspired design is rugged outside and roomy inside, with generous space and easy access; the electric E‑Tourneo Courier further stands out with its unique front-end design, handy 44-litre frunk 2 and enhanced standard specification including larger digital display screens and comprehensive driver assistance features.
“The Ford E-Tourneo Courier is an electric multi-activity vehicle with a sense of fun, designed for busy modern lifestyles. Whether it’s car-sharing with friends and family, carrying home renovation materials and plants for the garden, or heading to the beach with the dog in the boot and boards on the roof, E‑Tourneo Courier is set to bring electric benefits to a whole new set of customers,” said Rich Hughes, Tourneo brand manager, Ford, Europe.
Customers will shortly be able to order E-Tourneo Courier from their local Ford dealership, and the first vehicle deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2025.
Electric power with complete support
E-Tourneo Courier features a 43 kWh (useable) battery for up to 288 km of driving range. 1 The e-motor develops 100 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque 3 for responsive performance around town and comfortable cruising at higher speeds or when fully laden. Maximum towing weight is 750 kg, 4 enabling customers to tow a dinghy or small trailer.
A selectable L Mode provides enhanced regenerative braking when lifting off the accelerator to recapture energy and optimise range, or drivers can switch to one-pedal driving mode. 5 Drivers can also select from Normal, Eco, Sport or Slippery drive modes, which alter the throttle response and steering to best suit different driving scenarios.
On longer trips, E-Tourneo Courier owners can easily find and pay for public charging using Ford Pro Software and the BlueOval Charge Network, which with over 800,000 chargers is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. 6 A 100 kW DC fast charger can add 100 km of range in approximately 10 minutes; a typical 10-80 per cent fast charge takes about 23 minutes. 7
E-Tourneo Courier can recharge using an 11 kW AC charger in under 5.5 hours. 7 Owners can also pre-condition the battery and cabin for optimum range using the 12‑inch dashboard touchscreen or the FordPass app. 8 A two-year/unlimited distance service interval reduces costs and visits to the dealership.
Eye-catching design, advanced technology
E-Tourneo Courier fuses SUV design cues, futuristic electric vehicle elements and the everyday practicality that busy lives and outdoor pursuits demand. The striking chrome diamond grille, coast-to-coast lightbar and disc-style aerodynamic wheel designs add high-tech electric vehicle style, while the high bonnet line and short overhangs create a squat stance and maximise manoeuvrability, visibility and interior space to suit family car customers.
Practical, space-efficient design continues in the cabin. Drivers will immediately notice the “squircle” steering wheel – squared off for easier access and more comfortable leg and knee clearance – ahead of the column-mounted gear shifter and electronic parking brake.
The electric model offers enhanced display technology with a 12-inch configurable digital cluster in front of the driver, while a larger 12-inch touchscreen featuring Ford’s SYNC 4 software 9 and wireless phone mirroring 10 with split-screen mode controls media, navigation and secondary functions. A built-in modem 11 powers on-the-go connectivity and over-the-air updates, just like those on a phone, periodically improve functionality. In addition, an optional 230 V, 400 W, AC power socket in the lower instrument panel is ideal for powering laptops or small appliances.
Ford is offering the E-Tourneo Courier with a choice of three series options – Trend, Titanium and Active – each with their own distinct personality. All models feature Electronic Air Temperature Control, with Titanium and Active series models also featuring a wireless device charging pad 12 as standard.
E-Tourneo Courier features a comprehensive driver assistance suite 13 as standard, including Lane-Keeping System, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Intelligent Speed Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Driver Alert, Wrong Way Alert, Auto High Beam, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. E-Tourneo Courier Active’s higher standard specification also includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centring and Stop & Go, 14 Post-Collision Braking, Reverse Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Intersection Assist, Blind Spot Information System and Connected Navigation, 15 which are available as an optional bundle on other series.
Maximum space, maximum practicality
Like the equivalent petrol-powered model, E-Tourneo Courier was developed to carry five occupants and their luggage in comfort. As well as strengthening the exterior’s visual width and toughness, short overhangs and direct, straightforward lines create a spacious cabin and load area. The high roof line and large windows increase headroom and natural light for a more comfortable journey.
Occupants benefit from improved shoulder room and headroom compared with the previous-generation Tourneo Courier; the electric model also introduces a flexible new centre console that can be configured to carry larger items such as a laptop or A4 file, or divided up into separate cupholders and trays for keys or snacks. Additional storage areas include a hidden fold-out cubby in the boot and a 44-litre frunk – ideal for storing the charge cable or carrying wet and dirty items following outdoor adventures.
E-Tourneo Courier’s luggage compartment can take items over a metre long and offers 1,188 litres of space, 2 which increases to 2,162 litres 2 and a maximum length of 1,429 mm with the rear seats folded. The three-seat rear bench splits 60-40, folds and tumbles forwards to create the extra space, and features ISOFIX mountings on the outer two seats.
A low boot floor makes lighter work of loading heavy luggage and means even smaller dogs can jump in and out of E-Tourneo Courier more easily than they could a traditional SUV. Sliding side doors are useful in tight car parks, improve access when seating small children, and reduce the likelihood of damage from opening a rear door into obstacles or parked cars.
